Tulirang Ronghang to take charge as CEM of newly formed Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council

Guwahati, July 5 (IBNS): Tuliram Ronghang has been elected as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the newly formed 12th Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), polls for which was held on June 17 last.

During a crucial meeting held at Diphu in presence of BJP’s Assam unit president Ranjit Kumar Dass, the newly elected members the saffron party had given their support to Tuliram Ronghang to take charge the top command of the council.

BJP scripted victory of the council polls with sweeping majority by winning 24 seats out of 26.

A top source of BJP said that, Tuliram Ronghang, who also held the CEM post of the previous council, would likely to take charge the top command of the newly formed council on July 7.

On the other hand, Haren Sing Bey has been elected unopposed as the 27th Chairman of the newly formed council on Wednesday.

Haren Sing Bey, the former militant and general secretary of now disbanded United Peoples Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), joined mainstream politics following the signing of tripartite accord with the Centre and was elected to the 11th council as an independent candidate.

He joined the saffron party later.

Bey, who elected to the council from Rongkhang constituency had filed his nomination papers on July 4 for the Chairman post.
