President Inaugurates 7th Edition of KKM Memorial Gold Cup - Rural Football Tournament

Jangipur, Murshidabad, West Bengal, July 14 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the 7th Edition of Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee Rural Football Tournament at Mackenzie Park Football Ground in Murshidabad district on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that football is a popular game in the country particularly in rural areas. He said, matches at local levels must be held regularly to find talent to contribute at national level.

He also said that there are Football grounds in every village and players are very enthusiastic to play it.

"We must pay attention to promote it so that our players can move forward to find place in national team," the President said.

The President witnessed the exhibition match between Mohun Bagan U-19 and Kingfisher East Bengal U-19.

He was introduced to the players of both the teams and he gave away prizes. Mohun Bagan won the match by 1-0.

Abhijit Mukherjee, MP, Jangipur and President, Organizing Committee, KKM Gold Cup Rural Football, 2017-18,  Srenik Sett, Chairman, All Sports Foundation, Abu Hena, MLA, Lalgola, Asish Marjit, MLA,  Akhruzzaman, MLA and  Samar Mukherjee MLA were among the others present on the occasion.
