Zeliang secured 47 out of the 59 votes in the state assembly.
He secured 36 votes of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), 4 of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 7 from the Independents.
Nagaland assembly speaker Imtiwapang said that, former Chief Minister Shurhozelie Liezietsu bagged 11 votes including 10 of the NPF and one Independent.
Liezietsu was not present in the house as he is not a legislator.
With amid drama, TR Zeliang was sworn in as CM of the north eastern Indian state on July 20, while Governor PB Acharya sacked Liezietsu after failing to prove his majority in the house.
