Assam govt to run 5 model colleges and appoint 882 teachers next week

Guwahati, July 31(IBNS) : Assam government will run five new model colleges from Aug 4 next.

Assam Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the construction works of the model colleges have already completed and 105 teachers and five principals will receive their appointment letters from Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Aug 4.

“The new government-run colleges have been set up at Bihali in Biswanath district, Dalgaon in Darrang district, Amjonga in Goalpara district, Eraligool in Karimganj district and Tulungia in Bongaigaon district. These will be model colleges and named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhaya. Apart from it, construction works of other seven colleges are going on and it will complete next year,” Sarma said.

The Assam minister further said that, the state government will set up three other colleges at Deithor in Karbi Anglong district, Borkhola in Cachar district and Samaguri in Nagaon district.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, as per new education policy, the government will set up all future educational institution in the state wherever there is necessity.

The Assam minister said that, the state government will run 11 polytechnic colleges in the state from September next.

On the other hand, the state education department will appoint 772 head masters and assistant head masters in 626 high schools on Aug 7.

“We are going to appoint 626 head masters and 146 assistant head masters after all court cases have been disposed,” Sarma said.

The Assam minister further said that, the state education department will also appoint 124 retired teachers as special inspector in 124 schools to improve education quality, where the pass percentage in the latest Class 10 results below 10.

“The state government has also decided to set up 100 high schools in the tea garden areas in the state this year,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
