Woman killed in Poonch Pak ceasefire violation

Srinagar, Aug 12 (IBNS) : A middle-aged woman was killed as Pakistan violated the LoC ceasefire in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday resulting in a heavy exchange of fire.

Ruqia (40), a resident of Dharana, was killed on the spot  after a mortar shell fired by Pakistani rangers from  across the border exploded inside her house, officials said.

She was  standing in front of her house when the splinters hit her.

Officials said that heavy exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control  has been going on since 5:15 am.
