Bhopal, Aug 27 (IBNS): A Madhya Pradesh policeman showed courage to save school children as he took a 10 kg- bomb, which was found near a school building, on his shoulder and sprinted for nearly 1 kilometre to deposit it in a safe place, away from human habitation, media reports said.

The cop has been identified as Abhishek Patel.

The incident occurred on Friday morning in Chitora village in the state.

His heroic act saved lives of 400 school children.

The small video clip, showing the cop running with the bomb, has gone viral on social media.

The bomb was discovered on the backyard of a school and later policemen arrived at the scene for its recovery.

"We got the information from Dial 100. Since it was a residential area and a school compound, my only aim was to carry the bomb as far away as possible from there," Patel was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Saluting the policeman, actor Anupam Kher tweeted: "Salute to police Constable Abhishek Patel. Jai Ho. MP cop sprints 1 km with 10 kg bomb to save 400 school kids ."

Ex Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said: "Head Constable, Abhishek Patel hs shown great sense of duty n courage by carrying awy a bomb found in a school in MP."
