New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS): Amid bilateral tension between the countries, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday said that the Indian government will grant a medical visa to a Pakistani child who is suffering from heart ailment.

Swaraj took the step after the mother of a Pakistani child named Rohaan sought assistance from the minister.

Swaraj tweeted on Tuesday: "We will give medical visa for his treatment in India."

On the Independence Day, Swaraj said the Indian government will grant visas to only those Pakistani nationals whose cases are genuinely pending.

She tweeted on Aug 15: "On the auspicious occasion of India's Independence day, we will grant medical visa in all bonafide cases pending with us."

The External Affairs Minister's response came at a time when the two countries are having bitter tastes in the bilateral relation over a range of issues.

Weeks ago, Swaraj slammed Pakistan in the Parliament for continuing terrorism. She attacked the neighbouring country for the Pathankot  and Uri attacks in India which took place in 2016.
