Narada sting: CBI, ED quiz TMC lawmakers Mukul Roy, Suvendu Adhikari

Kolkata, Sep 11 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday interrogated Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mukul Roy and West Bengal Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari respectively in connection with Narada sting operation, officials said.

According to reports, Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari appeared respectively  at the CBI office in south Kolkata's Nizam Palace and the  ED office at CGO Complex in Salt Lake area in the morning.

Sources said that  Adhikari was questioned by ED officials for nearly four hours while CBI investigators are currently interrogating senior TMC lawmaker Mukul Roy.

Since Mar 14 last year, news portal- Narada News- released several sting operation footage, in which  TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs were allegedly seen accepting from a reporter, who masqueraded as a businessman.

From the beginning, TMC leadership had claimed that the sting footage was doctored and it was a conspiracy of the opposition. 

After getting direction from the Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court, the CBI has started a probe into the case.

On April 17, the investigation agency registered an FIR in connection with the case under several non-bailable sections against 12 influential leaders, cabinet ministers, MLAs and MPs of TMC and one senior IPS officer, who were seen allegedly taking bribes in the sting footage, reports said.

Besides CBI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has registered a money laundering case is currently investigating the case.
