CBI seeks Centre's permission to move SC to reopen Bofors case
According to reports, CBI is waiting for the nod to file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the apex court to reopen the case.
A SLP is filed in the Supreme Court when someone appeals against an order or judgement of any court or tribunal in India.
The SLP will be filed against the Delhi High Court's order of May 31, 2005.
Meanwhile, Michael Hershman, the first secret Bofors investigator deployed by the Indian government, said he is ready to help the Indian agencies in the investigations.
The Bofors scam, allegedly one if the biggest in Indian politics, led to the fall of the Rajiv Gandhi government after it broke out in 1989.
Though kickbacks were alleged, no evidence against the allegations were found.
