Smriti Irani mocks Rahul Gandhi over report of bots behind his Twitter popularity

New Delhi, Oct 21 (IBNS): Union minister Smriti Irani mocked Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, over a recent media report that hinted at the role of 'bots' in making Gandhi popular on Twitter.

An ANI report has stated the re-tweets of Gandhi's post might have come from the automated "bots".

The report has even stated the alleged bots were from Russia, Kazakhstan or Indonesia.

"A close analysis of this tweet showed that these alleged 'bots' with a Russian, Kazakh or Indonesian characteristic were routinely RT-ing the Congress VP's tweets" the report read.

Irani, in a sarcastic manner, tweeted: "Perhaps @OfficeOfRG planning to sweep polls in Russia, Indonesia & Kazakhstan ?? #RahulWaveInKazakh."

Irani has always been sharp at countering the Congress vice president and one of the recent examples include the sarcastic comment from the union minister over the Global Index Report.

Irani, a week ago, countered Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's remark on the Global Index Report that stated India has slipped three notches to 100 among 119 countries of the world.

Gandhi tweeted to say: "If you are hungry, be patient! So what if you have no bread? Hunger is a hot topic, these days Of debate in the Delhi Durbar! - Dushyant Kr."

Union textile and I&B minister, Irani, tweeted to say: "Not suprising that in his keenness to run down Hon PM, Rahul Gandhi maligns the Nation."

Gandhi and Irani fought the political battle in Lok Sabha election 2014 from Amethi.

However, Gandhi had managed to beat Irani in the poll.
