BJP MP compares Gandhi, Nehru with garbage, Congress protest and demand public apology
Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, BJP MP of Jorhat parliamentary constituency on Sunday commented in a public meeting that people have not accepted the ideology of Deen Dayal Upadhyay as the Congress washed brains of common people with garbage like Gandhi and Nehru.
Following the remarks by the BJP MP, Congress had strongly condemned and demanded apology from Tasa as well as Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said in his tweet that, BJP MP Kamakhya Tasa's speech equating Pandit Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi with garbage is condemnable and he should issue a public apology.
Another Congress MP representing Assam, Sushmita Dev said in her tweet that, 2014 elections gave a govt. with absolute majority but the quality of Parliamentarians like Tasa is questionable. deplorable comment.
On the other hand, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora said that, comparing father of the nation and 1st PM of India with garbage MP Tasa exposed his poor knowledge.
"Mr Tasa has revealed his own sick mindset by uttering derogatory words towards Gandhi and Nehru. This is not only insult to our nation, to India's freedom movement, to our constitution also. It is a serious offence. We are demanding apology for this insult," Ripun Bora said.
On the other hand, Assam Congress had protested against the BJP MP's comment and burnt his effigies in Guwahati and other parts of the state.
The Assam Congress had also filed an FIR against MP Tasa.
