Portion of old building collapses in Kolkata, 2 hurt

Kolkata, Oct 23 (IBNS): At least two persons were seriously injured as portion of a dilapidated residential building collapsed at Brabourne Road area under Hare Street Police Station limits in central Kolkata on the wee hours of Monday, reports said.

According to reports, portion of a balcony of the old multi-storey collapsed at around 3:30 am. and two residents of the building had been trapped under the wreckage.

Fire and emergency services officials, local police and Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the duo.

"One senior man, Jay Sukhlal, and his son Ganesh Sukhlal had been trapped under the debris and after being rescued, they were rushed to a local hospital," a senior official of state fire and emergency services department told IBNS.

According to hospital reports, the two injured are under treatment in stable conditions.
