Speaking at the rally- Navsarjan Janadesh Mahasammelan'- Gandhi appeared to be bent on taking on Modi on his home turf as he alleged that despite all tall talks of the BJP, there are 30 lakh unemployed people in Gujarat which is being run by only five entrepreneur families.
"There are 30 lakh unemployed youth in Gujarat and you have mortgaged the state into hands of five families. Youths can not have education or medical care for their family members as institutions demand massive amount," he said. ,
"You can forego the debts of industrialists like Vijay Mallya, you give land at cheap rate for Nano, but you can not waive the farmers' loan," he said.
Taunting Narendra Modi over his call to fight corruption, Rahul slammed Narendra Modi for doling out favours to BJP President Amit Shah's son, Jay Shah, an entrepreneur, whose net worth, he said, soared 16 times.
" Modiji had said, na khaunga, na khane doonga (neither I shall take bribe nor shall I let anybody to accept). He is now feeding others."
The Congress vice-president's Gandhinagar visit comes a day after Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Vadodara and hit out at the Opposition for questioning Election Commission over not announcing poll dates for Gujarat Assembly election.

It also comes on a day when Patidar leader Nikhil Sawani quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alleged that the government has not done anything to ensure quota for Patels in Gujarat. The Patidar leader said he will seek an appointment with the Congress vice-president.
Meanwhile, BJP was quick in attacking Gandhi and said the Congress has now turned into "Dramebaaz party number one".
Union Minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday said Gandhi never performed politics for development.
"Rahul Gandhi never performed politics of development.," Prasad told media,
"Congress has today become a dramebaaz party number one," he said.
He said: "Rahul Gandhi, has your party become so desperate after consistent defeat that you are reducing yourself gimmick to make yourself relevant."
