Will retaliate to acts of provocation: Indian DGMO to Pakistani counterpart

India Blooms News Service | | 30 Oct 2017, 05:38 pm

New Delhi, Oct 30 (IBNS) : The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks on Monday with the former warning his counterpart that the Indian Army would continue to retaliate to "provocative acts of aggression".

DGMO India Lt. Gen AK Bhatt  also rejected Pakistan's allegations that Indian security forces had resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC).

The talks  between the two sides came during unscheduled talks over the hotline at the request of Pakistan. .

Rejecting Pakistan's allegations, the Indian DGMO  asserted that the Indian Army only conducted retaliatory firing against the Pakistan Army's unabated support to the infiltration and targeting of Indian posts.

"Indian DGMO impressed upon the Pak DGMO that while Indian Army will continue efforts to ensure peace and tranquility on the borders, support provided to terrorists while crossing LC by Pak Army is unacceptable and the Indian Army will continue to take all retaliatory measures as well as retain the right to punitively respond to such provocative acts of aggression from Pak side in future too," Indianarmy.adgpi tweeted.

The Indian DGMO, instead,  accused Pakistan of employing civilians at the forward posts and using them to gain information of the Indian side's locations.

Pak DGMO had alleged that Indian security forces had resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control.

"Indian DGMO emphatically stated that retaliatory firing by Indian troops has only been carried out in response to unabated support given by Pak army to armed terrorists who infiltrate across the border and target Indian army posts with heavy calibre weapons."

"Indian Army DGMO further clarified that that Indian Army always maintains impeccable standards of professionalism and does not target civilians.

"On the contrary, Pak Army has employed civilians on the forward posts and accorded permission for permanent locations of civilians in the vicinity of Pak Army posts who are used for gaining information of our locations and providing guides to the terrorists while crossing the  LC," it said.
