Guwahati, Nov 15 (IBNS): Couple of days after two Assam Rifles jawans were killed and six others injured in a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Manipur’s Chandel district, militants once again targeted security forces in the same district along the Indo-Myanmar border on Wednesday morning.

According to the reports, the suspected PLA militants ambushed jawans of four Assam Rifles at the area Sajik Tampak and Chamol Top in Chandel district at around 5.20 a.m. on Wednesday.

In the militant attack, two Army jawans were injured.

In retaliatory fire by the security personnel, one militant was killed and three others were injured.

One AK rifle and three unexploded IEDs have also been recovered by the Assam Rifles troops.

A top official of Manipur police said the entire area has been cordoned off by launching additional parties from neighbouring units and search operations are in progress.

Militants had carried out a series of attacks on security forces in the north eastern Indian state this year.

On June 30 last, one Assam Rifles jawan was killed and 3 others were injured in an IED blast in Ukhrul district, while one jawan killed and 4 others were injured in another blast on June 15 last in the state.
