President Kovind arrives in Jharkhand, pays tribute to freedom fighter Birsa Munda
Ranchi, Nov 15 (IBNS): President Ram Nath Kovind, arrived in Jharkhand on Wednesday -- his first visit to the state as the President of India.
After arriving at the state capital, President Kovind visited the Birsa Chowk and paid his tributes at the statue of freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
The President said, "Tributes to freedom fighter and national hero 'Dharti Aba' Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. I am happy to be visiting Jharkhand on this day."
Incidentally, Nov 15 is also the statehood day for Jharkhand.
Later in the day, the President is scheduled to attend the foundation day celebrations of Jharkhand state and inaugurate or lay the foundation stones of various projects in Ranchi.
He will also receive the first copy of the Hindi translation of a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita at a function organised by the Yogoda Satsanga Society before leaving Ranchi.
