Media has an important role in taking sports to each and every home in India – Col. Rathore

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IBNS): Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore said that before making sports mandatory in schools, it should be made mandatory at homes.

Minister further added that media has an important role in taking sports to each and every home in India. Col. Rathore mentioned this while delivering his keynote address at the CII Big Picture Summit here today.

Speaking about the role of mobile applications in promoting sports across the country, the Minister said that sports related information should be easily available through mobile apps. Elaborating further, Minister suggested that mobile applications can be used to map the sports infrastructure across the country so that citizens are aware of the sporting facilities around them.

Regarding Government of India’s efforts in promoting sports, Col. Rathore said that the government has already funded 6 sports universities for research & development.

Minister also said that the government is trying to bring all manufacturers at one place to make best sports equipment and is putting in all efforts to make India a healthy and a happy nation.
