Guwahati, Dec 13 (IBNS)  :  A day after the murder of a Village Defence Force President and his son by  Paresh Baruah led ULFA (I) militants, suspected ultras  shot dead another person in lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the reports, an armed militant group  killed a person identified as Gahain Murmu in the district's  Gossaigaon  on Tuesday night when he was in sleep outside his house.

Top police officials  rushed to the area and started investigation into the incident.

On December 11, at least three ULFA (I) militants dressed in army fatigue had shot dead a VDF president and his son in the  Simaluguri area near Bordumsa and Kakopathar in Tinsukia district.

ULFA (I)  claimed responsibility for the killing and said that the two men were working as spies for the army and Assam police.

Several organizations, including All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) staged protests against the murder and demanded the state Government to book the culprits immediately.
