Slap-gate: Rahul Gandhi not happy, raps Asha Kumari
Shimla, Dec 30 (IBNS): A miffed Rahul Gandhi rapped senior Congress leader Asha Kumari on Friday, as the latter had gotten herself involved in a physical altercation with a cop.
Kumari, who is the AICC in charge of Punjab, allegedly slapped a woman constable outside the Congress office in Shimla, while the lawmaker was on her way to meet party president Rahul Gandhi.
The woman constable paid her back in kind.
A clip of the incident has also gone viral.
After being briefed about the situation, Rahul reportedly said: "I am not happy over the incident. I do not approve of it. This is no way, at least not the Congress culture, which stands for Gandhian way of responding to anger with love. Raising hand against anyone is not good and I will not tolerate it."
Later, Kumari took to Twitter to share her side of the story.
According to her, it was the constable who abused the lawmaker and tried to 'manhandle' her, to which she reacted in 'self-defence'.
"The constable on duty first denied entry in my own party’s program despite of reading the pass and then used abusive language and tried to manhandle me to which I reacted in self defence. I have been in public life since last 35 years and have no such unparliamentary history," Asha Kumari tweeted.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against the lawmaker under IPC sections 332 and 353 (criminal assault against a public servant on duty) at the Shimla police station.
Reacting to the development, Kumari has threatened to follow suit.
"I will also lodge an FIR against her. A few people circulated just a part of the video clip. Let the entire video be released,” she said.
