Gujarat: Nitin Patel given finance ministry, assumes office

Ahmedabad, Dec 31 (IBNS): Gujarat's deputy chief minister Nitin Patel on Sunday took charge after he was given the finance portfolio.

According to media reports, the senior leader was unhappy as he was not getting portfolios of his choice in the new state cabinet.

He reportedly took charge after BJP President Amit Shah intervened into the matter.

Vijay Rupani  took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat recently.

Under his leadership, the BJP scripted victory in the recently held Assembly polls in the state.

BJP retained power by winning 99 seats, which is howerver 16 less than what it had in the last Assembly, in the 182-member House,  while the Congress claimed 77 to improve their tally.

Six seats went to others, including three Independents.
