Delhi plastic factory fire toll rises to 17, warehouse owner arrested
New Delhi, Jan 21 (IBNS): The death toll in a massive fire at a plastic factory in north Delhi's Bawana industrial area has risen to 17, officials said on Sunday.
Among the 17 dead ten are women, said reports.
Around 15 fire engines fought for hours to douse the flames in the three-storey building on Saturday.
Few workers of the factory have reportedly jumped from the terrace to save their lives.
The fire was caught in the ground floor initially at around 6.20 p.m. on Saturday. The police reportedly arrested the owner of the factor in the fire.
Manoj Jain, the owner of the company who was arrested, said his company was engaged in packaging of low-intensity "cold firecrackers", according to NDTV.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known for certain.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the warehouse in Bawana and later ordered an inquiry.
