Fodder scam: Verdict in third case to be pronounced today
Ranchi, Jan 24 (IBNS): The verdict in the third fodder scam case that involves former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad will be pronounced on Wednesday, media reports said.
This is the third case of the scam where Lalu is involved as an accused.
Apart from Lalu, another former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra is also accused.
The case, verdict of which is to be pronounced on Wednesday, pertains to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 33.67 crore from Chaibasa treasury in 1992-93.
Both the former CMs are accused of withdrawing the money issuing a fake letter. The money which was withdrawn was also way more than the sanctioned amount.
Earlier this month, Lalu was sentenced to 3.5 years of jail term after being convicted in another case of the fodder scam in late December.
The RJD chief was convicted for his fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 89.27 lakh from the Deoghar treasury 21 years ago.
Though Mishra was also accused in the second fodder scam case, he was acquitted of all charges due to lack of evidences.
