Sonowal announces three awards to promote women entrepreneurship
Guwahati, Jan 29 (IBNS): To give women entrepreneurship a boost, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced commendation and cash awards for three successful women entrepreneurs who achieve success by virtue of their sheer diligence.
These awards would be given annually every year.
Speaking on the first day of a two day Assam Women Entrepreneurs’ Conclave at NEDFi House in Guwahati on Monday, Sonowal said that the state government in a bid to encourage women entrepreneurs would acknowledge their success by giving cash award of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.
He also said that the state government is committed to channelize the skills of women folks of Assam using latest technology and give a fillip to their entrepreneurial skills.
Sonowal said that the state government is always with the women entrepreneurs and would always help them for sustainable development of the society.
Sonowal also said that appropriate planning coupled with scientific approaches and honest and hard labour would lead to a prosperous Assam as he appealed to the women entrepreneurs to keep working for their empowerment and development of Assam.
Sonowal said that in all the 33 districts, government would provide assistance to set up women hub and women clusters like the one which will be built at Guwahati on a plot of land measuring seven bighas of land at Bamunimaidan.
The Assam CM also felicitated three women entrepreneurs in recognition to their success in their business. He inaugurated an exhibition organised on the occasion.
Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, who was also present on the occasion, said that his ministry is doing everything possible to promote women empowerment in the state.
He also said that in response to the Chief Minister’s announcement of setting up of women hub in Guwahati, his ministry would complete all necessary modalities for the same.
The conclave which has been organised by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship saw the participation of women entrepreneurs across various sectors from the state.
