Assam Rifles troops rescue an abducted person, nab five Naga militants in Nagaland

Guwahati, Jan 31 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles rescued an abducted person in clutches from the Naga outfit group NSCN (R) and apprehended five kidnapper militants in Nagaland on Tuesday evening, officials said on Wednesday.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input about movement of armed militants alongwith a kidnapped person on National Highway - 29, the troops of Assam Rifles's Dimapur battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) launched an operation along with police and established a mobile check post in general area Ayomiti village in Nagaland.

During the search of the suspected vehicle, Bolero without registration number Assam Rifles troops apprehended five NSCN (R) militants with illegal arms and rescued the kidnapped person.

The nabbed militants were identified as Self Styled Lt Col Khoto, SS Maj Rikhum, SS Maj Athsong Chang, SS Capt John Pomei and SS Cpl Shitmong.

Security personnel also rescued an abducted person identified as Tokhuvi Avomi resident of 4th mile in Dimapur in clutches from the militants.

Security personnel had recovered two point 22mm pistol, 2 magazines, five point 22 rounds ammunition, Rs 17,140 cash, three mobile phones and one Bolero vehicle.

Later the apprehendees and the rescued person alongwith  the recovered items were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
