New Delhi, Feb 2 (IBNS) : Police on Friday detained three boys for allegedly beating their 14-year-old classmate to death inside the toilet of a private school in northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar- an incident that gives an eerie reminder of the Ryan school murder.

The Hindustan Times reported that the  accused boys, aged around 15 years, have been charged with murdering Tushar Kumar.

The class nine student's body was found inside the washroom of Jeevan Jyoti Senior Secondary School in Sadatpur area on Thursday.

The HT quoted Deputy commissioner of police (northeast) AK Singla  as saying that  they zeroed in on the accused with the help of closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage.

“During the questioning of those boys, it emerged that Tushar was punched by three of his classmates in the toilet. On Thursday morning, there was an argument between the boy and the three accused and later when he went to the toilet, they followed him there and thrashed him,” Singla has been quoted as saying.

The Hindustan Times earlier reported that a bunch of boys were seen following Kumar into the toilet on Thursday where he was found dead.

The family of the boy have held that he was beaten to death but the school claimed he was unwell and that led to his death.

Singla said no injuries were visible on Kumar’s body but during questioning of the three boys, it emerged that he was punched in his face and neck.

A medical board is likely to conduct the autopsy of the deceased on Friday.
