New Delhi, Feb 6 (IBNS): Taking an exception, Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday told lawmakers not to address the Chair as "His Excellency".

Naidu instead asked all to refer the chair as "Honourable Chairman" or "Vice President".

Speaking during the Zero Hour, the Vice President said: "I often find it embarrassing when the members and even others call the Vice President His Excellency... there is no need to use such phrases in future."

Earlier, Naidu asked lawmakers to stop using the word "beg" before laying reports or papers in the House.

Naidu had said, "No begging please."

He had rather advised them to seek permission from him before tabling any official papers.
