Srinagar, Feb 10 (IBNS) : Succumbing to the pressure from Opposition as well as ruling PDP members,   Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta Saturday expunged his remarks on Rohingya Muslims.

While commenting on the Jammu attack in the Assembly, the Speaker blamed the presence of Rohingya Muslims.

The opposition legislators staged a forceful protest against the remark compelling the Speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes.

The House also witnessed anti-Pakistan slogans from BJP members during the ruckus, while National Conference member and former Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone raised 'Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans.

Soon as the session started after the adjournment, the members of the NC asked the Speaker to withdraw his remark on Rohingya Muslims.

Later the Speaker withdrew his statement.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the house that two soldiers were killed in an ongoing operation at Sunjwan area of Jammu district.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri, while giving  details about  the ongoing operation said  two JCOs were killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, Major opposition party National Conference distanced itself from the remark of its MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone in the assembly and condemned it.

Reacting to MLA’s remarks, NC spokesperson Junaid Azeem Mattu tweeted, “Just spoke to @JKNC_ President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahib. Dr. Sahib and the entire party is of the unequivocal stand that NC MLA from Sonawari Mr. Akbar Lone has spoken out of turn and his slogans in the Legislative Assembly are completely unacceptable to the party.”
“Hon’ble @JKNC_ President has said the NC MLA should not forget that he belongs to a party that rejected the two nation theory and he should also remember the oath he swears in the name of God at the beginning of his term. The party disowns and condemns his remarks,” he wrote in an another tweet.

“Totally endorse my Party President’s views outlined in these two tweets. The party will say nothing more on this issue,” tweeted Omar Abdullah.
