Meghalaya: Live grenade recovered from Congress supporter's SUV

Shillong, Feb 12 (IBNS): Just 16 days ahead of the assembly polls in Meghalaya, a live grenade was found from a SUV of a Congress supporter in Shillong on Mon

According to the reports, the Congress supporter named Michael Pakyntein had called up the police and informed about discovery of a live grenade from his SUV bearing registration number of ML-05-S-2927.

Later, a police team and a bomb squad team rushed to the area and safely recovered the grenade and defused it.

East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police (City) Spill Thamar said that, the grenade was attached to the spare tyre of the vehicle which parked outside of Pakyntein house.

“We have safely recovered the grenade and defused it. An FIR has been filed about this and investigation is going on,” the Meghalaya cop said.

Meghalaya is going on to hold the assembly polls on Feb 27 next.
