PM says happy to visit Arunachal Pradesh, will also address election rally in Tripura

Itanagar, Feb 15 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on Thursday, during his visit to the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Itanagar on Thursday morning and was welcomed by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Brigadier (Retd.) (Dr.) B.D. Mishra and the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu.

According to media reports, CM Pema Khandu termed the PM's visit to Arunachal as "historic" and said, "No PM in the past visited Arunachal Pradesh twice within a period of three years."

During the inauguration of the Convention Centre, the PM said, "This Centre is expected to become a significant landmark of Itanagar."

"I am personally going to tell people - go to Arunachal Pradesh and hold your important meetings at the convention centre," he said.

A tweet from the PMO quoted Prime Minister as saying, "Why should meetings only be held in the national capital. We must go to all states and that is why I came to Shillong for a Northeastern Council meeting and an important meeting related to agriculture was held in Sikkim."

The PMO also tweeted Modi as saying, " I want to compliment CM @PemaKhanduBJP for the wonderful work he is doing. He has prepared a top quality roadmap on how Arunachal Pradesh should be in 2027. And, he did not only ask officials for inputs but also asked people from all walks of life."

PM Modi also dedicated the State Civil Secretariat Building to the nation and laid the foundation stone of the Academic Block of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science.

Addressing the gathering at the event, PM Modi said, "There is so much work to do in the health sector. One aspect is human resource development, other is infra and there is also the need to use modern technology in the sector.

"We are working towards building medical colleges in all parts of the nation. This is because, when one studies in a particular area, one becomes better acquainted with the local health challenges," he said.

He also announced that the Naharlagun- New Delhi express will run twice a week and will be called Arunachal Pradesh Express, according to reports.

PM Modi also planted a sapling at Governor House, in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit Tripura on Thursday afternoon and address political rallies in Santirbazar and Agartala, according to media reports.

Tripura is scheduled to hold its Assembly elections on February 21 this year.
