Amritsar, Feb 21 (IBNS): Ending his Maharashtra visit, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday will arrive in north Indian state of Punjab where he will meet state Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

According to reports, Trudeau will visit the Golden Temple.

He will also visit the Partition Museum in the state.

Singh earlier said he is looking forward to meet Trudeau.

" Look forward to meeting Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau in Amritsar on Wednesday. I’m hopeful that this meeting will help strengthen the close Indo-Canadian business ties as well as the deep-rooted people-to-people relations between our two countries," Singh had earlier tweeted.

Rubbishing all Indian media reports, foreign media CBC News had reported that Trudeau will not meet Sikh leader Capt. Amarinder Singh in the entire tour amid the controversy over the Sikh separatist movement that had linked the Canadian government.

The Sikh nationalist movement is a movement which aims to make Punjab region of India, a separate country named Khalistan.

One of the Indian magazines, Outlook India, had earlier mocked Trudeau referring to him as "Khalistan II. Made in Canada".

The magazine consists of few articles about Canada's alleged involvement with Sikh independence movement in Punjab, India.

The articles were supplemented by an interview of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh.

Trudeau, who is on a week-long visit to the country, will stay in India till Feb 23.

He has already visited several Indian states which include Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Trudeau on Monday visited Sabarmati Ashmram in Ahmedabad and Akshardahm temple in Gandhinagar shortly after his arrival in Gujarat.

He visited the Taj Mahal with his family on Sunday.

He shared images of his visit to the Mughal creation on his social media site.

Accompanied by his family, the 46-year-old prime minister arrived in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

The Canadian Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Feb 23.

Both the leaders will talk and focus on key issues like trade, defence, civil nuclear cooperation, space, tackling climate change energy and education. Trudeau's visit is expected to deepen ties between India and Canada.
