Kashmir : Militant killed, cop injured in grenade attack on police station

Srinagar, Feb 26 (IBNS) : A police constable was injured and  an under custody militant died after unidentified people  hurled a grenade at a police station at Tral in south Kashmir's  Pulwama town on Monday,police said. 

According to police sources, burqa clad persons hurled a grenade at the police station.

“A terrorist, Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan, died in the grenade explosion as he was  trying to escape from Police Station Tral,” Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Shesh Paul Ved said in a tweet.

The injured constable,  identified as Mehraj ud din,  was immediately taken to a hospital. 

Additional security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been  launched to nab the attackers.

Militant Mushtaq alias Haroon  was arrested by government forces along with arms from Sopore in North Kashmir on January seven.
