Tripura witnesses tough fight between BJP, Left in early hours

Shillong/Agartala, Mar 3 (IBNS): As counting of votes started on Saturday morning, the political battle in Tripura is getting intense with early trends showing both the BJP and the ruling Left Front closely fighting to capture the Assembly.

As per early trends, out of 59 seats, Left is ahead in 24 seats while the BJP is leading in 22.

Other are ahead in 1.

In 59 Assembly seats in Meghalaya, Congress is leading in 8, NPP in 7 and BJP in 3. Others are ahead in 9.

Nagaland is witnessing early lead taken by NDPP in 8 seats while NPF is leading in 1.

All eyes are at Tripura where the fight is going on between the ruling Left Front government and the BJP.

Polling held in Tripura in Feb 18.

In Meghalaya and  Nagaland, people voted on Feb 27.

Vote counting began at 8 am.
