SC puts on hold probe against army personnel named in January Shopian firing
New Delhi, Mar 5 (IBNS): The Apex Court on Monday has put on hold a probe against army personnel Major Aditya pertaining to the killing of three civilians in military firing in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian in January.
The Supreme Court's order came after Jammu and Kashmir government said that Major Aditya wasn't named as an accused in the First Information Report though he was the Army officer leading the police convoy.
Three civilians were killed after the aforementioned convoy opened fire at a mob who threw stones at them.
Later, the Army said that the convoy was provoked to take such a step.
Chief Justice Dipak Misra ordered the state government to put the investigation on hold till April 24. The court will deliver its ruling on that day.
"After all, it is a case of an Army officer, not an ordinary criminal," Chief Justice Mishra said.
