New Delhi, Mar 6 (IBNS): Conrad Sangma is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Meghalya on Tuesday.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Raj Bhawan in Shillong.
Sources said that 11 ministers will be inducted in the new government.
Among them, 6 will from NPP, 2 from UDP, 1 each from BJP, PDF and HSPDP.
Despite a fractured mandate in the Assembly polls, the state is going to witness its first non-Congress government taking charge in 15 years.
With support of 34 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, NPP chief chief Sangma met the state governor Ganga Prasad on Sunday and staked his claim to form the next government in the north-eastern state.
Meanwhile, just a day before the swearing-in ceremony in Meghalaya, the Hill State People's Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Monday refused to support NPP in a coalition government if BJP takes part in it.
HSPDP President Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said that the party is not going with Conrad K Sangma led government.
“We want a non-Congress and non-BJP government,” Basaiawmoit said.
The HSPDP chief also said that UDP did not consult with his party before proposing Conrad K Sangma’s name as the Chief Minister.
HSPDP won 2 seats in the Meghalaya assembly polls.
