Shillong, Mar 6 (IBNS): National People's Party (NPP) supremo and former Lok Sabha Speaker Late PA Sangma’s son Conrad K Sangma will be swearing in as the new Chief Minister of Meghalaya on Tuesday.
Sangma is set to be administered the oath of office and secrecy as the new Chief Minister of Meghalaya, at a ceremony at 10.30 am to be held at Raj Bhawan in Shillong.
Sources said that, 11 ministers will induct in the Conrad K Sangma led government.
Sources further informed that besides Chief Minister designate Conrad K Sangma, the other NPP MLAs who will be inducted in the Cabinet include Prestone Tynsong, Sniawbhalang Dhar, James K Sangma and Comingone Ymbon.
Three UDP MLAs who have got a Cabinet berth include Metbah Lyngdoh, Kyrmen Shylla and Lahkmen Rymbui.
Former Chief Minister and UDP Chief Dr Donkupar Roy likely to assume office as the new Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
On the other hand, two PDF MLAs are also likely to be inducted in the Conrad K Sangma Cabinet include Banteidor Lyngdoh and Hamletson Dohling.
BJP parliamentary party leader, AL Hek and HSPDP MLA from Mawkyrwat, Renikton L Tongkhar will also be inducted in the new ministry.
BJP president Amit Shah, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam minister and Convenor of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and few BJP leaders would likely to present in the sworn in ceremonial function.
Earlier, HSPDP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit refused to support NPP and Conrad K Sangma as Chief Minister if BJP in coalition.
During a press conference held at Shillong, the HSPDP president said that, his party is not going with the Conrad K Sangma led government.
Besides the HSPDP president statement, the two elected representatives of HSPDP have ignored party president Ardent Basaiawmoit’s objection to Conrad Sangma’s election as chief minister and assured their support to the coalition.
