IAF trainer jet crashes in Odisha, pilot ejects, but recieves injured

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS) : An Indian Air Force (IAF)  advanced trainer jet crashed on Tuesday in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district near the Jharkhand border, media reports said.

The trainee pilot of the Hawk  jet ejected himself safely but reportedly received some injuries, The Times of India said.

The aircraft had taken off on a routine training sortie from Kalaikunda Air Force station in Kharagpur.

According to The Hindu, the  incident took place on Subarnarekha River bed near Mahulatangili village under Jharpokharia police station.

The jet was reduced to a mangle of metal and parts of it got buried under sand. The  pilot was admitted into Bahadaguda hospital in Jharkhand.

An investigation has been ordered into the accident.
