Madhya Pradesh: Journalist investigating 'police-mining mafia nexus' run over by dumper
Bhopal, Mar 26 (IBNS): Under mysterious circumstances, a Madhya Pradesh journalist, who was investigating an illegal sand mining cases in Bhind district of the state, was run over by a dumper on Monday, media reports said.
The journalist was identified as Sandeep Sharma.
He was working with a national news channel.
According to media reports, the journalist had filed a complaint with the police and cited threat to his life from a police officer after a ‘sting operation’ was done against him.
Sharma died on spot after the dumper hit his bike from behind.
After the incident, the dumper driver sped away from the spot.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
They have also scanned CCTV footage of the incident.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has condoled the death of the journalist in the incident.
District SP Prashant Khare told Hindustan Times: "We are investigating the matter. The CCTV footages have been accessed. Police are also interrogating eye-witnesses. I can’t say right now whether it was an accident or murder. This will be clear after investigation.”
Bhind Press club president Sathyanarayan Sharma told The Times of India that Sharma’s death was highly suspicious.
"He was a brave journalist and had filed stories against mining mafias. He was facing threat from a police officer whom he had exposed a few months ago and had submitted a complaint to the SP citing threat to his life. Fact that the dumper was empty also give rise to suspicion,” Sharma told the newspaper.
