New Delhi, Mar 28 (IBNS): Bidding farewell to the retiring Rajya Sabha MPs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said his office is always open to them.

Speaking at the Rajya Sabha, Modi said: "Parliament, my own office is always open for you all. Please feel free to share your thoughts on vital issues."

Modi expressed  his anguish as the retiring MPs won't be present in  parliament when the decision on the Triple Talaq, the practice of instant divorce given to women in the Muslim community, will be taken.

Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, said: "The leaders never retire. We are only bidding farewell to them but not breaking ties."

The members of the Rajya Sabha, which is also known as the Upper House, are elected for a period of six years.

However, one-third of the members retire after every two years in the house.

The outgoing members do get replaced by new members.
