CBSE paper leaks : Re-examinations to be announced next week, says HRD Minister Prakash Javadkar
New Delhi, Mar 29 (IBNS) : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce the dates for re-examination next week, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday amid a huge uproar across the country following the leak of economics and maths papers.
His announcement came after Congress President Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government, alleging that instituions are being destroyed by the ruling BJP and its ideological mentor, the RSS.
Javadkar also assured that those guilty of leaking the Board examination papers would not go scot-free.
“Dear Students, I fully understand your anguish, helplessness, anger and frustration. It is really painful that criminals do the wrong and the honest and brightest suffer. I can understand the pain & frustration of parents & children. Culprits will be nabbed soon and strict action will be taken. We are taking all measures to ensure that the exams remain fool-proof,” he tweeted.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, Rahul Gandhi said, "The exam leaks destroy the hopes and futures of millions of students."
"The Congress always protected our institutions. This is what happens when institutions are destroyed by the RSS/BJP."
"Believe me when I say, this is only the beginning," Gandhi said.
The Delhi Police said they have registered two cases. The first case in connection with the leak of economics paper was lodged on March 27 while the case pertaining to mathematics paper was lodged on March 28, following a complaint by the regional director of CBSE. The cases were registered on charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Delhi police on Thursday detained a coaching institute founder in connection with the Central Board of Secondary Education paper leak case after the board authorities named him as a suspect in a complaint, reports said.
The man identified as 40-year-old Vicky was detained a day after the CBSE announced that it would re-conduct the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics examinations following reports that the exam papers had leaked.
Vicky is the owner of a Delhi-based Vidya Coaching Centre.
He is currently being questioned by crime brunch officers.
CBSE said it was informed about the man by an anonymous person, who sent a letter to the board.
"CBSE received a complaint by fax on March 23, from an unknown source that someone named Vicky, who runs a coaching institute in Rajinder Nagar’s Sector 8 is involved in the paper leak," media reports quoted a letter of the CBSE regional director. .
The Delhi Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the paper leak.
