Police question several people over CBSE paper leak
New Delhi, Mar 30 (IBNS): The police have questioned several people, including tutors, in connection with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) paper leak incident.
The tutors belonged to a Delhi-based coaching centre, media reports said.
According to reports, 25 people have been questioned in connection with the incident so far.
The Delhi Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the paper leak incident which left CBSE students, appearing for their final examination, across the nation shocked.
The board is likely to announce dates for re-test next week.
On Wednesday, the CBSE had announced retests for the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics subjects.
“We have received a number of emails, texts from stakeholders for conducting the retest only in those areas where the leak took place, including from Delhi. If we get specific inputs from Delhi police on the exact locations regarding the leak, we will examine that aspect,” said a CBSE official on condition of anonymity, to Hindustan Times when asked if other states were in touch with the board.
Meanwhile, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has said the culprits will be punished.
"Dear Students, I fully understand your anguish, helplessness, anger and frustration. It is really painful that criminals do the wrong and the honest and brightest suffer. (1/2) @CBSEINDIA @HRDMinistry," the Minister tweeted.
He said all steps are being taken to ensure that the exams remain fool-proof.
"I can understand the pain & frustration of parents & children. Culprits will be nabbed soon and strict action will be taken. We are taking all measures to ensure that the exams remain fool-proof. @CBSEWorld @HRDMinistry (2/2)," Javadekar said.
Meanwhile, the Congress on Thursday targeted the government over the question paper leak episode.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi attacked the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the leaks of Class X Mathematics and Class XII Economics question papers of the CBSE examinations.
In a tweet, Rahul said: "The exam leaks destroy the hopes and futures of millions of students. The Congress always protected our institutions. This is what happens when institutions are destroyed by the RSS/BJP. Believe me when I say, this is only the beginning."
