Another minor girl raped in Assam, over 10 rape incidents reported in past week

Guwahati, Mar 30 (IBNS): While the people of Assam and several organizations continued their protest against the rape incidents and demanded to take stern action against rapist, yet another rape incident is reported from the state.

The incident took place in Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

According to the reports, a 13-year old adivasi minor girl was allegedly raped by a teacher.

Khetra Nath Rai, teacher of Simalutap High School in Kokrajhar district hailing from Dhubri district, allegedly raped the minor girl at his rented house in Kokrajhar town.

The family members of the victim girl lodged an FIR at Gossaigaon police station and a case (No -103/2018) under section 120 (B)/342/374/376 of IPC and under section 4/8 of POCSO act.

Police has started investigation and launched operation to nab the accused teacher, but he is still absconding.

Earlier, a minor girl was raped and murdered by three youths in central Assam’s Nagaon district, which triggered massive protests across the state.

Apart from the Nagaon incident, few more rape incidents were happened in Hailakandi, Barpeta, Jagiroad, Hojai, North Lakhimpur, Palashbari Juria, Tamulpur, Baksa area in past a week.
