14 militants of UPLF, KNLA and KPLT surrender in Assam's Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, Sept 3 (IBNS) : At least fourteen militants belonging to three separate outfits had surrendered along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition before the police in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday, police said.

Karbi Anglong SP Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta said the militants of United Peoples' Liberation Front (UPLF), four from Karbi National Liberation Army (KNLA) and three of the Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) had laid down huge cache of arms and ammunition.

The surrendered UPLF militants were identified as Naisring Parbosa, Anep Langthasa, Tushi Bodo, Manik Haflongbar, Suhit Nabensa, Rohito Kemprai and Bidyut Langthasa. They deposited a M21 Chinese-made rifle, a SBBL gun, a Germany-made 9 MM pistol and two Chinese hand grenades.

“Four KNLA militants identified as Songja Tokbi, Kensing Ronghang, Arun Engti and Kamsing Rongpi deposited a AK-47 rifle, two magazines of AK-47 rifle, a broken magazine of AK-47 rifle, 29 rounds of ammunition, a 9 mm pistol, seven rounds of 9 mm ammunition, 13 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition and six live rounds of 12 bore cartridge,” the SP Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta said.

Three KPLT militants Probhat Singnar, Rajib Singnar and Francis Terang depoisted one Chinese hand grenade before Karbi Anglong police.
