Verdict of Blackbuck case involving Salman Khan to be pronounced today

Jodhpur, Apr 5 (IBNS): A Jodhpur court on Thursday will pronounce the verdict of 20-year old Blackbuck case which involves Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, media reports said.

Apart from Salman, the fates of other actors like Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Sonali Bendre, who are also accused in the case, will be decided.

The actors were accused in poaching a blackbuck, an endangered species protected under the Indian Wildlife Act, during the shooting of film Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1998.

If Salman is convicted, he might have to serve six years in jail, NDTV reported.

The poaching had occurred somewhere near the Bishnoi village. After hearing the gun shots, villagers had chased the gypsy driven by Salman and eventually the actor fled.

Salman was charged with four poaching cases and also an arms case.

In 2015, the actor was acquitted by the Bombay High Court in a 2002 hit and run case.

Salman's imprisonment in Blackbuck case would certainly badly affect several producers as the actor is busy in shooting for several films.
