Salman Khan spends his first night in Jodhpur Central Jail

Jodhpur, Apr 6 (IBNS): Jailed Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has spend a night in the Jodhpur Central Jail.

Bail hearing of Khan, who was convicted in blackbuck poaching case, will take place on Friday.

With the Bollywood superstar getting convicted in a blackbuck poaching case, Jodhpur DIG (Prisons) Vikram Singh on Thursday said the Bollywood superstar will not receive any special treatment during his stay in jail.

Television footage showed Khan walking with dignity inside the prison.

Singh also said that Khan made no special request and is lodged as prisoner numer 106.

The actor will be given the uniform on Friday.

"Salman Khan has been given number 106 and is lodged in ward number two. He was made to undergo medical test and has no medical issues," said Singh.

The actor has been given high security in the jail to ensure his safety.

The bail plea of Khan -- who has been give a five-year jail sentence by a Jodhpur court on Thursday in the blackbuck poaching case -- is likely to be taken up on Friday.

The actor was whisked away to Jodhpur Central Jail from the court itself after the verdict was delivered by Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri.

The actor was also fined Rs. 10,000.

The four other co-accused –  Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam – have been acquitted.

The Bishnoi community, known for their deep respect for their forests and animals, expressed satisfaction over the verdict.

The actors were accused of poaching a blackbuck, an endangered species protected under the Indian Wildlife Act, in Kankani village of Jodhpur during the shooting of film Hum Saath Saath Hain in September, 1998.

Khan was convicted under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.

Final arguments of the case were completed in the trial court on Mar 28, after which chief judicial magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had reserved the judgment for Thursday.

According to the complaint, Salman Khan had killed two black bucks.

He was also charged for possessing a weapon with an expired license.

Khan was last seen on the big screen in Tiger Zinda Hai.

The move released last year.
