Kolkata, Apr 11 (IBNS): An over-speeding minibus crashed into several auto rickshaws, private cars and pedestrians on Rash Behari Avenue Connector at Kasba New Market area under Kasba Police Station limits in south suburban Kolkata on Wednesday morning, killing at least one person and leaving several others injured, reports said.

According to reports, a speeding Ruby to Gariahat bound minibus (Anandapur-Howrah Railway Station route) suddenly lost its control near Acropolis Mall at around 10:30 am. and after hitting two auto rickshaws and a private car, it ploughed into pedestrians.

At least eight people were seriously injured in the accident and were rushed to Ruby General Hospital nearby where one of them was pronounced dead.

A local police official told IBNS that the deceased has been identified as Biswanath Haldar who was a resident of nearby Adarsha Nagar China Mandir area.

Locals alleged that the minibus was racing with another bus of same route which caused the deadly mishap.

Police, however, have seized the minibus while its driver and conductor are absconding.
