Srinagar, Apr 14 (IBNS); Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday appreciated people of her state for dismissing 'communal forces' and standing beside the alleged minor rape victim.

"I commend the manner in which the people of Jammu dismissed communal forces & were unwavering in their support for a little girl. It has strengthened my belief that Jammu serves as a model of inclusiveness & together the people of J&K inspire secular unity & righteousness," Mufti tweeted.

Two BJP ministers Chaudhary Lal Singh and Chander Prakash had earlier submitted their resignations to party’s state president Sat Sharma.

They had reportedly attended a rally in support of the accused persons in Kathua.

Asifa, the minor, was held captive by the accused at a temple and later she was raped, mutilated and murdered in Rassana village of Kathua months ago, crime branch of Jammu and Kashmir police stated.

However, several lawyers had stopped the police from registering cases against the accused in the case.

After six hours of ruckus, police could file the charge-sheets.
