New Delhi, Apr 15 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday congratulated Indian players for finishing third in the Commonwealth Games medals tally list.

The Games ended on Sunday.

Congratulating Indian players, Gandhi tweeted: "Congratulations Team India on your 3rd place finish at Commonwealth Games 2018 with 26 Gold Medals. You've made us all very proud."

With a total of 66 medals, India finished their Commonwealth Games campaign in the third spot on Sunday.

Apart from 26 golds, India won 20 solver and 20 bronze medals this time.

It was better than their performance in Glasgow in 2014 where the country had bagged 54 medals.

India had won 15 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze in 2014.

India's second best haul in the tournament came in 2002 Manchester edition when it had bagged 69 medals in total.

However, Delhi CWG was the best performance ever put up by India when it had clinched 101 medals.

A massive 600-plus strong members had represented in India 2010 in the CWG.

Australia ended 2018 edition of the CWG at the top position with 198 medals (80 G, 59 S, 59 B).

England stood in the second spot with 136 medals (45 G, 45 S, 46 B).
