Kolkata, Apr 18 (IBNS): Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami and his elder brother, Hasib Ahmed, were interrogated by Kolkata Police officials on Wednesday in connection with a domestic violence case that was filed by Shami's wife Hasin Jahan, sources said.

After being summoned by the city police, Mohammed Shami and his brother appeared at Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar in the afternoon and questioned for hours.

"Kolkata Police's women's grievance cell interrogated Mohammed Shami and his elder brother, Hasib Ahmed, in connection with a domestic violence case in two phases," a source in the city police told IBNS.

"In the first phase, they were questioned separately and in the second phase, we quizzed them together," he added.

A month ago, Mohammed Shami's wife, Hasin Jahan, brought several charges against her husband and his family members, who are residing in Uttar Pradesh.

After Hasin Jahan lodged complaint with the Kolkata Police against Shami and his family, city police started investigation into the matter and interrogated the duo on Wednesday.

Earlier in March, a team of city police visited Mohammed Shami's house in Uttar Pradesh and questioned his family members.

Mohammed Shami and his family, however, denied all allegations against them.
