Karnataka election : Rahul attacks Modi on women's safety issue
Bengaluru, May 4 (IBNS) : A day after Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi took Karnataka election campaigning to a feverish pitch, the Congress President on Friday fired a new salvo, giving a scornful twist to the Centre's women's safety slogan and asking people to be wary of BJP leaders for the safety of their daughters.
"The centre's slogan Beti Bachao, Beti Padao should rather be Beti Bachao BJP ke MLA se (Save the daughters from BJP lawmakers," Rahul said, referring to the Unnao rape case in which a BJP lawmaker stood accused.
Gandhi, while addressing a gathering at Kalgi, again launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led NDA Government, this setting the stage for another showdown with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second successive day. Both leaderss are on belligerent campaign trail ahead of the May 12 election in Karnataka.
Rahul's caustic comment came shortly after PM Modi on Thursday morning had stressed on women's safety while addressing the women workers of the Karnataka unit.

"Your money first went to the banks and then to Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. PM speaks about corruption with BS Yeddyurappa on stage with him. The most corrupt man in Karnataka is BJP's chief ministerial candidate," he said.
Gandhi asked Modi to deliver on his promise of providing 2 crore jobs and waving off farm loans.
"The youth of the country is disappointed with Narendra Modi, where are the jobs you promised to people? Siddaramaiah wavied off farm loans in 10 days... what did you do?", he asked.
, Gandhi alleged that the BJP-RSS is assaulting Dalits across the nation while PM Modi remains silent.
He also assailed BJP President Amit Shah asking how could his son's firm have reached a turnover point of Rs. 50,0000 crore fro Rs. 80 crore when businesses in India are having a difficult time.
In its election manifesto, the BJP has promised to provide free sanitary napkins to lesser priviliged women and girl students and at Rs. 1 for other women under the new "StreeSuvidha Scheme."
The BJP said it would focus on farmer welfare, if elected to power.
