Tamil Nadu moves the Supreme Court to ask Karnataka to release Cauvery water
Chennai/New Delhi, May 7 (IBNS): Tamil Nadu has moved the Supreme Court against Karnataka regarding the release of water from the Cauvery river, according to media reports on Monday.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the matter on Tuesday, reports said.
Tamil Nadu, in its appeal to the apex court, has said that Karnataka has to release 4 tmc of water .
Th Supreme Court (SC) of India, on May 3, had asked the Karnataka government to release at least 4 tmc of water to Tamil Nadu for April and May by Monday, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, the Centre on May 3, informed the apex court that it was not able to frame the draft of Cauvery water sharing scheme between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka as many of the ministers of the central government, including PM Naendra Modi, are travelling, reports said.
SC, on April 9, had given May 3 as the deadline to submit the draft scheme.
